Engine Overheating: Identify The Problem

  1. Check coolant level in the radiator and reserve tank. Refill the radiator if the coolant cannot be seen  after you remove the radiator's cap. Check for any leak.
  2. Check radiator's fan motor. How? Start engine and switch ON air conditioner, the fan should be ON (fast),  even during cold start. If otherwise the fan run slower then normal or not even spinning at all, the motor is faulty. Check the motor wire connector too.
  3. Check heat sensor. How? If no.1 & 2 above all right, switch OFF air conditioner and wait until the temp reached half. The fan motor should be ON if the heat sensor function properly. If otherwise, replace the heat sensor.
  4. If all the above work properly, the thermostat maybe jammed. Click the links provided for more info about thermostat. How To Check Engine Thermostat and How To Replace Engine Thermostat. At this time, you can flush the radiator and hose. Maybe it clogged.
  5. If persist, you should replace the water pump!!

    1. Why not. just remove upper & lower radiator's hose. Then insert your home's pipe hose into the upper radiator. High pressure water pipe better..
