DIY: Turbo Timer Installation For Perodua Kancil

Guys, here is a turbo timer's manual instruction for Perodua Kancil. The installation very simple, just tap the wire. First, what you need to do is to identify these 4 wires; Constant positive 12v, Key ON, Key ACC and parking brake wire. How? No need to worry, I will show it below. 

Now, pull and press the latch of black connector behind the ignition switch. Now refer the picture below.

These are wires from turbo timer that need to be tapped to the wires in picture above. If you buy new turbo timer, there should be a connector supplied. 

I modify the original 3-wired connector to 4-wired connector. Add on; Ground (-) wire.
Once you identify the wires, refer to wiring diagram below.

DIY: How to install lower spring on Perodua Kancil.

Hi friends..
Now I will shows you on how to install lower spring to your Perodua Kancil. It is easy if you have enough tools. Main tools needed for this project are car jack, cross rim wrench or any wrench no.17 that can be used to remove nut as picture 1 and 2, another wrench no 17 or adjustable wrench, wrench no.12,  screw driver, hammer and coil spring clamp.

Picture 2:  I use cross rim wrench (no.17) to do this work. Make make sure you get this nut loosen before you can proceed to next step. Remember, just loosen it. Otherwise you will be in trouble.

Picture 4: Remove nuts in circle, use wrench no.12


Picture 5: Remove 2 bolt & nut as indicted above using wrench no.17


Picture 6: Use coil spring's clamp to help you to separate coil spring and absorber.


Picture 7: I use motorcycle tube to avoid the coil spring's clamp from sliding/moving

Picture 8: Now, continue your step on Picture 2 until the coil spring come off by itself

DIY: Perodua Kancil Auto Flip Side Mirror (Wiring)

Hi Perodua Kancil enthusiasm ..
Here are the wiring diagram for auto flip side mirror for Perodua Kancil. Auto flip side mirror taken from Daihatsu Mira L5.

Lets start from side mirror switch. Got 9 wires behind it. 5 wires on top, and 4 wires under. refer to the diagram below. Make sure you understand the diagram before you start.

Side Mirror Switch: 1-5 top


On mirror side, refer to diagram below. Connection will be based on number/wire colour from the side mirror.



Get it? So, here are the connection points..

No.1  (white/black) ------------------------------------ Negative (-)/car chasis

No.5  (blue)--------------------------------------------Positive (+) 12volt

DIY : Rear Disc Brake Conversion for Perodua Kancil

Hi all.. Now I want to show you on how to convert your rear drum brake into disc brake. For your information, rear disc brake for Perodua Kancil taken out from Daihatsu Mira L5. It is simple, easy to say that just plug and play. Of cause you need full set of tools, jack, and most of all, your energy.

First step, remove rear tire and you will need a jack to do this. Remove the center cap and you will see nut inside the brake hub.

Picture 2:  Take out safety pin first!


Picture 3: This way to take out the brake hub


Picture 4: In order to take out the brake shoe, you must use your own creativity to remove all the spring hooks as in the circle.


Picture 5: For this one, you can use pliers. just twist it (item in circle) left or right. 
Picture 6: Clamp the brake hose to avoid the brake liquid reserve tank drained. 


Picture 7:  After brake shoe removed, you can now remove all the nuts in circle




Picture 8: Disconnect the brake liquid line. If you think the coil spring make your work harder, take it (coil spring) out by removing the lower bolt and nut of the shock absorber.


Picture 9: Drum brake completely removed. Now ready to replace it with brake disc from Daihatsu Mira L5
Picture 10-13 below will shows you on how to take off the main part of the Mira L5 rear disc brake that will be replace the drum brake

Picture 11: Disassemble the parts from Mira L5 rear disc easier than Kancil's drum brake.


Picture 12: Before that, remove nut behind the center cap by using wrench no.17 (refer Picture No.1). Then, remove upper and lower bolts of the brake caliper as shown at the picture above.


Picture 13: Disconnect brake liquid hos from the caliper. Now you can remove the caliper and the brake disc and then you will find 4 nuts as Picture no.7. Do the same thing!

Picture 14: What you take off from L5 rear disc brake, just plug and play it to the Kancil's rear arm.


Picture 15: Make sure it tight enough. Insert brake disc/rotor first and then the caliper.


Picture 16: Connect back brake liquid hose to the caliper. Now remove the hose clamp in picture no.6
Picture 17: Secure the upper and lower caliper bolts


Picture 18: Tighten center hub nut and don't forget to put back safety pin. Refer picture 2


Note: Actually, you can just plug n play the whole arm of Mira L5 rear disc brake to the Kancil rear arm position. Just take out the whole kancil' rear arm and replace it with Mira L5 rear disc. But it will consume more energy and it is easy if you can lift up your car higher.

Now, you must do brake fluid bleeding at both side. You can do it yourself even no one with you. Click this link on Youtube.com on How to bleed brakes using "one person" method. Or you can use two person method if you got someone with you. Refer to this Youtube.com video on How to bleed brakes. After bleeding process, go to the nearest workshop to replace stock handbrake cable to the L5 disc brake cable. If you can get access to your car's undercarriage, you also can do it by yourself. Make sure safety come first. Now you can show off to your friends about your rare rear disc brake.
