If you want to convert to EFI system without changing the original engine block (for the purpose of maintaining the engine number), you can take this EFI kit from Daihatsu Mira 660cc L2/L2s. This is the list of item you needed to make this project accomplish, for non-turbo (N/A).

2. L2/L2s engine wiring set (recommended L2/L2s turbo wiring set for future upgrade to turbo)
3. L2/L2s Ecu (recommended L2/L2s turbo ECU for future upgrade to turbo)
4. L2/L2s Intake Manifold
5. L2/L2s Exhaust Manifold (N/A manifold) 6. L2/L2s Double Layer Radiator7. Double Layer Gasket/Metal Gasket.
8. L2/L2s Fuel tank
*note: L2/L2s is a Daihatsu Mira model in Japan.
When playing with turbo, the stock Perodua Kancil piston also must be change to L2/L2s turbo piston. For the 660cc model, no need to rebore the piston cylinder but still have to use the l2/l2s turbo piston because Perodua Kancil piston is a high compression piston while l2/l2s turbo piston is low compression. High compression piston not suitabel for turbo engine especially in high boost.
But for 850cc model, you need to rebore the piston cylinder because the size of 850cc piston is smaller than 660cc model (660cc piston = 68mm, 850cc piston 66.8mm).
There are privileges in which the 850cc will be 882cc turbo when coupled with a larger piston (piston l2/l2s) and higher block that was only availalbe on 850cc block (660cc block lower than 850cc). 850cc gearbox can be reuse and this will give your car extra power compared to L2/l2s 660cc turbo.
But if you have a budget around RM5000, it is advisable to buy 660cc Daihatsu half-cut set from auto half-cut store for a better functions of other electrical equipment such as air-conditioner and power stering. Some of the combined-wiring (kancil wiring+L2/L2s EFI wiring) may cause air-conditioner fail to function properly. But there is a solution for this, by using FICD (Fast Idle Control Device).

Rebore 850 engine block to fit 660 pistons and turbo charger estimate in RM2000-RM2700 including labour cost. If you buy one Mira halfcut, the halfcut itself around RM3500-RM3800 excluding the installation labour cost around RM500-RM700. Different place different price..but still around that.

Performance ofcoz better than Ori carburator engine, Stock kancil engine is 6-valve, when you convert to 12-valve EFI head, it will increase the engine horsepower. About fuel consumpation, EFI system will give you extra mileage than Kancil's carburator engine. Im very sure you can feel the different..

ReplyDeleteAutomatic transmission engine will use more fuel than manual trans especially in traffic jamm. If possible, Drop the gear to "N" position, rather than "D", just when you need to drive forward, then drop it back to "D", as if u are using manual tranmission.. Then, check the engine RPM when indling without using aircond and when using aircond. the best rpm should be 1000-1300k

850 block + L2 piston must use 850 crankshaft and 850 conrod. or else the L2 piston running in 850 block only produce the same 659cc engine. but when using 850 block, 850 crankshaft, 850 conrod, L2 piston, it will produce 882cc engine. L2 piston just pnp to 850 conrod since the piston pins size are same (18mm)

ReplyDeleteYes..one of it is differential in fuel pressure. EFI system need high pressure (25-60psi), carb fuel pressure around 4-6psi. Then, Fuel pump for carb engine usually located somewhere at the engine bay, but fuel pump for EFI engine located inside the tanks/submerged with fuel in the fuel tank. One more thing, EFI fuel tank also has a return fuel line.

ReplyDeleteTurbo Kit for perodua Kancil around RM1000-RM1500. But it will cost you more in the future and make your headache. A lot of problem will occur when you turborised your stock carburetor engine especially in tuning process. But if you still want to try this, stay with boost 0.5 - 0.6 bar and don't let your right foot too naughty..

ReplyDeleteI assume your L2 is turbocharged engine. For a better performance and toughness if you plan to bolt-on-turbo to 850 block. If n/a engine, just let 850 parts there. L2 head & 850 block different in coolant flow route. But nothing is impossible. lot people say money can do anything..

ReplyDeleteService.. turbo engine a bit higher. eg cannot use mineral oil,as kancil. Semi synthetic good enough, must use turbo spec sparkplug. Turbo engine should be low on fuel consumption because Mira L2/L5/L9 fuel injection engine, but because of "heavy right foot habit" fuel consumption will be higher. More power, more fuel.. L2/L5/L7/L9 turbo engine generate up to 64hp, compared to stock 850cc kancil only 37hp.

Turbo engine will not give u any problem as long as u didn't touch its factory setup and well maintain. L5 660 twincam also got n/a EFI engine. But kenari/kelisa/storia/Move L9/L7 which is 1000cc also can be fitted into kancil. But if kancil 850 should be no problem. But yours is 660. If u prefer 1000cc engine, it is recommended to refer with puspakom near to you. But a lot of 660 kancil fitted with 1000cc engine..just fulfil the requirement needed by the puspakom.

Sama je power tu bro..cuma L9 jb-det da smooth ckit klau high speed (depend dgn condition engine juga). Walaupun ef-det 3 piston, tapi saiz piston lebih besar. jb-det 4 piston, tapi kecik. so ada win-win situation kat situ. ef-det senang lagi nak upgade, parts pun banyak compare dgn jb-det.

Pada awal thn 2013, saya tlh install kat kedai halfcut engine L6 turbo 660 (LSD Automatic Gearbox). Crossmamber, Gearbox Auto, drive shaft, steering rack, EPS, dan kaki2 semuanya masuk dlm krta kncil sya.Tetapi mslh nya skrg payah nak alignment tayar(lari ke kiri). Adakah sbb frame cross member L6 xsma dgn kancil EX660?@ sbb steering rack adlh EPS?
